CURRY COOK-OFF II

If you like to have starch with your starch (ie. potato on top of rice), have a CURRY cook-off!  We had THE perfect amount of curry dishes to go around for all to taste and the chefs did NOT disappoint!  A special THANKS to all of our wonderful chefs.  The competition was fierce and I had to have three or four bowls of each to finally make my decision.

I forgot what we were giggling about here...

CONTESTANTS:

A
Terence - Chicken & Potato Vindaloo

B

C-dub - Vegetarian Japanese Curry

C

Myrtle - Eggplant Curry

D

Jake - Yellow Curry

 E

Quan + Rebs - Lemon Grass Curry

 F

Felicia  + Tony - Fruit with Dessert Curry Sauce

 TASTERS:

3rd Place - Myrtle's Eggplant curry

RUNNER UP:  Jake - who also made a delicious appetizer version of the same curry but with an added "kick".  His curry dish had a thick gravy made with coconut milk and spices, along with potato, carrot, and onions - delicious even without rice!

1st Place WINNER: Mr. T -  His curry dish was actually a flavor filled vindaloo, filled with amazing spices, tomato, and potato.  The unique curry flavor won the tasters over and ultimately took the ribbon!

Congrats Terence & Jake!!!

  1. Thanks to everyone for coming, for bringing such awesome curries, and for making this event a blast! Thanks to Jen for planning, decorating, hosting, and designing a kick-ass curry cook-off logo!

And congrats to Jake! As far as I'm concerned, it was a tie; his curry was amazing, and the cucumber/curry/tomato hors d'oeuvres were the BOMB.

Special thanks to everyone who voted for my curry; I LOVE vindaloo but had never tried making it before until the cook-off. I'll definitely be continuing to tweak my recipe to try to take it to new levels. If anyone wants the recipe, let me know. It's lactose free!

See y'all at the next cook-off!
